Alternative education is the topic at the University of
New Brunswick in Fredericton’s faculty of education colloquium
on Research, Policy and Practice in Education.
John Grant McLoughlin, an associate professor in mathematics
education at UNBF, will focus on alternative education for
his keynote address on Tuesday, Feb. 22. The seminar is
Alternative Education: Another Perspective on Diversity.
It will be held in Room 261 of Marshall d’Avray Hall at
7:30 p.m. Admission is free and a reception will follow
in Room 225.
The colloquium will provide an opportunity to discuss examples
of various models of education including different forms
of schooling or contexts for learning including home-based
education.
Attention will be given to home schooling as a broad-based
example of alternate education with a variety of models,
motives and contexts. The intent of the colloquium is to
promote dialogue about the wealth of education options as
a source of richness rather than an obstacle.
